TIYO'S CUISINE BY CHEF & BREWER

I am now on my fourth month of pregnancy and I couldn't eat as much as I'd love to like before, but that couldn't stop me from discovering awesome food places for you dear readers! This restaurant has been on my list for a couple of months now after receiving another recommendation from a reader. Together with my ever reliable support group - Mom and Sis - we checked out Tiyo's Cuisine by Chef & Brewer and we had a really great time!

 Love the interiors!

For those of you who prefer to dine outside

Big space even for parking. This place gets packed especially at night though!

While waiting for our orders, my preggy self went around the place since I already fell in love with it. Here are some photos I'd like to share with you. Enjoy!

 The kitchen

 The fish pond

 Hello lovely, healthy kois!

 Hello Mr. Plumpy! Cute!

Dressing up their table wine. Love it!

Two cute buddha figures by the main door. I adore these!

I just love foodie places loaded with photo ops. I was informed that the place has been operating for just a couple of months, and I really look forward to what Tiyo's will offer us in the future. Ooops, here come our orders:

Angus Tapa (200 PhP). Our favorite!

Grilled Beer Sausage (180 PhP). Oh, we loved their sinangag, too!

Bangus Belly (180 PhP)

Pesto with Aligue (320 PhP) Soooo good! This dish serves 2-3 persons.

Mango juice and Pineapple Juice (70 PhP each)

We had a great dining experience at Tiyo's Cuisine! The ambience is great, the prices affordable, and of course, the dishes are delicious! They currently have ongoing promos such as buy 1 take 1 for beers at 55 PhP, and the unlimited 1-peso brewed coffee. Check their Facebook page for more details.

My best friends (aside from hubby, of course) --- Mom and Sis! Love them to pieces!

Celebrating four months of baby in my tummy! Hihi!

Notice how the centerpiece looks like it's walking? ;-)

PARIKIT INASAL

An unassuming but quite successful inasal joint and watering hole in one across Kapitan Moy, Parikit Inasal is one of the best places to sate your inasal craving or to have a fun drinking session with friends. The resto grill is open 24/7 and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner all day, all night.

Just across Kapitan Moy and the church of Our Lady of the Abandoned

There are several lamps all over the place :)

The set-up is simple with a native feel

A wash station for those who want to eat their inasal the authentic way

Kuya in red is the only server at that time, (I think more people flock the place in the evening) and he is our favorite, super bait hehe! Forgot to ask his name though :-/

For lunch we had:

Inasal, 85 PhP (They have all you can-in as well - all the rice you can eat!)

The usual condiments for inasal

Little sister is a fan of tocino so she ordered tosilog, 60 PhP

We were all giddy to see the menu included Lucban specialties such as longganisa Lucban! I ordered the Lalucsilog (60 PhP) and was very happy about it! Yum yum! The menu also lists Pancit Lucban (Habhab) but they had no stock when we were there. Next time! :) Also available are merienda items like siomai and noodles.

So if you're craving for inasal in the middle of the night or need the company of family or friends any time of the day, this is one place you can definitely go to. Good food + cool drinks.  Check out Parikit Inasal today!

CHIC-BOY

Let's go mainstream: Chic-Boy is finally in Marikina! Only a few months ago, we were so excited to see a poster of Chic-Boy beside Dencio's at the Riverbanks area that bore the magic words "Opening Soon". I was able to try dishes at Chic-Boy last August and this place instantly went to the top of my inasal places to go to. But what caught my heart at Chic-Boy was not their inasal, but their Cebu Lechon! (For those who are already fans, we know the code: CB6)

The dining area is biiiiig. Well, maybe they know that many Marikenyos are excited to finally taste their specialties without having to travel outside the city.

Their signature lechon sauce (In my opinion, the meat they serve is already flavorful you won't need it.)

All meals come with free soup. The bottomless iced tea is ONLY 25 PhP!

Sister ordered the chicken inasal (CB2, 99 PhP)

While the rest of us ordered CB6! (99 PhP) Cebu Lechon Liempo - really good, I tell 'ya!

Rice all you can is strictly enforced, hehe!

Another tasty discovery of the night: TURONES CON LECHE (30 PhP)! Deep fried banana rolls that come with a custard cream for dipping. Highly addictive.

They also serve excellent side dishes such as grilled eggplant with bagoong (30 PhP) and ensaladang mangga (25 PhP). There are also merienda meals like palabok (45 PhP) and dinuguan (48 PhP). Chic-Boy warrants your visit, don't you think? ;)

Thanks for coming to Marikina, Chic-Boy!!!

More Reasons to Love QIZIA CAFE

"Qizia what?"

That was my initial reaction when my Mom mentioned that her officemates were raving about this cafe located behind SDS Medical Center, and that I should check it out. I didn't even know how to spell Qizia then! I've been to the cafe only once, and vowed to try their pastries on my next visit.

And on the next visit, not only did I get to try their pastries, I also discovered what QIZIA meant, too. Lifting this off from a page of their menu:
"QI is believed to be part of every living thing that exists, as a kind of life force or spiritual energy. It is frequently translated as "energy flow" or literally "air" or "breath". ZIA is a sun symbol which originated with the Indians of the Zia Pueblo in ancient times. Its design reflects their tribal philosophy, with its wealth of pantheistic spiritualism teaching the basic harmony of all things in the universe."
So there, QIZIA is a combination of QI and ZIA, meaning the energy of life and harmony of all things. Cool!

Now we go to even cooler things, which is the food that we ordered:

I tried the ham and cheese French toast with potato chips sprinkled with cinnamon, served with strawberry jam (I remember reading maple syrup on the menu, however. Oh well.)

Because I miss Sagada's Yoghurt House so much, I immediately consume the ham part, and ate the cheese part with the strawberry jam - reminiscent of Yoghurt House's strawberry and cheese toast (Except in Sagada I had real strawberries, hihi)

Sweetie ordered the Grilled Fish plate - a dish with a big fish fillet on a yummy garlic sauce, served with (again, a big) grilled prawn and tomato salsa.

For sharing we ordered the grilled chicken pizza - with loads of cheese, peppers and corn kernels. Yum!

Our dinner

Then comes my favorite part as usual: DESSERT!

One of my readers suggested I try the Brazo de Mercedes of Qizia, so this time I made sure I ordered it.

Verdict: It was sooooo yummy! With lots of filling! One of the best I've had, really!

Their chocolate cake is really good too! The chocolate studs at the end of the cake make this treat even sweeter.

And the reason why I'll keep coming back to Qizia? THE CARROT CUPCAKE! The muffin is chunky-full of carrot and raisins, and the frosting is really good... Perfect for my sweet tooth! (Or teeth.) You can also order this as a regular cupcake, or its sugar-free version!

Good food at very affordable prices. Have your energy balance checked + food craving sated at Qizia today!

Even More Reasons to Love OGGO AND JULLZ

Yes, we're back at Oggo and Jullz earlier today. This is part 1 of our lovely sister's treat for her *toot*. (Yes, sometimes things are best kept as secrets - oh why do I even write it here? Hehe.)

We ordered dishes that we still haven't tried before - exhausting the menu, as usual. In my previous posts about Oggo and Jullz, we munched on both grilled and sizzling - and of course, we never failed to order THE Banoffee pie.

FREE PEANUTS! (Sometimes they serve chichacorn)

We tried their value meals! Served with rice and iced tea, prices range from 50 to 60 pesos. Cool huh?

BURGER STEAK MEAL. The patties taste homemade and not commercial. The gravy goes well with the burgers too!

LUMPIANG SHANGHAI MEAL. Crunchy shanghai served with the classic catsup. So simple yet so filling.

PORKCHOP MEAL. Crispy breaded porkchop + catsup = You can never go wrong!

We also ordered some entrees:

Their CRISPY PORK SISIG (They call it C.P.S.) was such nice surprise!! It was very flavorful and very crunchy. I couldn't resist scooping more onto my plate. :D I am including this in my 'favorites' list. Make sure you order this when you visit Oggo and Jullz!

The PINAKBET CON LECHON was also a hit! The veggies were fresh and not overcooked at all, they were crisp and flavorful, the ampalaya (bitter gourd) was cooked right, and the pieces of lechon kawali completed the whole dish.

Even with our bellies bursting with all the food we just ate, we still had room for dessert. I think it is genetic: that small stomach space shaped like a slice of cake - we all have it.

The BANOFFEE PIE! Yum! I don't think there will ever be a visit to Oggo and Jullz that would lack even a slice of Banoffee pie.

Our recent, delicious discovery: THE MANGO RAPSA! Rapsa talaga! Mangoes, cream, graham and syrup. A treat we'll always be ordering from now on along with the classic Banoffee.

Their FRUIT SALAD has a new, fancier look - with tastier toppings too! I remember our first visit to Oggo and Jullz, the fruit salad was served in cups. Good thing they took it up a notch and made this sweet treat even... sweeter. :)
