Even More Reasons to Love QIZIA CAFE

Every Marikenyo or Marikenya has probably visited this place at least once, and perhaps the people of Antipolo too. (I was told they have a branch in that area.) After all, who can resist good food, good prices and good service?

We were at Qizia Cafe again some weeks ago for our beloved Tita Amy's birthday celebration! I was really excited for this thanksgiving and for the opportunity to take lots of food photos since we were a big group. (More people = more food).

Some of us ordered dishes that I already sampled in our previous visits:

 SPICY SHRIMP PASTA

 GRILLED CHICKEN PIZZA

QIZIA'S SPECIAL PIZZA

Everything looking yummy so far? Of course. Now folks, here are photos of dishes that I tried for the first time. All of them were de-li-cious!

CREAMY CHEESE PASTA. Creamy and cheesy! Yum!

 STIR FRIED BEEF WITH MUSHROOMS

 GRILLED CHICKEN WITH BUTTERED VEGGIES

My new favorite: CRISPY PORK BELLY WITH MANGO SALSA. So tasty.

Ren-ren (my bayaw's cousin) and I had an Iced Tea drinking contest. She beat me 7 glasses to 4, haha!

HAPPY PEOPLE AS USUAL! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TITA AMY! (She's the lovely lady second from the left)

Convinced? They're open from 9 AM to 1 AM so if you're hungry you have quite a big window to drop by Qizia Cafe. I still wasn't able to try their infamous cheese sticks though. Next time Qizia, next time. :)

More Reasons to Love QIZIA CAFE

"Qizia what?"

That was my initial reaction when my Mom mentioned that her officemates were raving about this cafe located behind SDS Medical Center, and that I should check it out. I didn't even know how to spell Qizia then! I've been to the cafe only once, and vowed to try their pastries on my next visit.

And on the next visit, not only did I get to try their pastries, I also discovered what QIZIA meant, too. Lifting this off from a page of their menu:
"QI is believed to be part of every living thing that exists, as a kind of life force or spiritual energy. It is frequently translated as "energy flow" or literally "air" or "breath". ZIA is a sun symbol which originated with the Indians of the Zia Pueblo in ancient times. Its design reflects their tribal philosophy, with its wealth of pantheistic spiritualism teaching the basic harmony of all things in the universe."
So there, QIZIA is a combination of QI and ZIA, meaning the energy of life and harmony of all things. Cool!

Now we go to even cooler things, which is the food that we ordered:

I tried the ham and cheese French toast with potato chips sprinkled with cinnamon, served with strawberry jam (I remember reading maple syrup on the menu, however. Oh well.)

Because I miss Sagada's Yoghurt House so much, I immediately consume the ham part, and ate the cheese part with the strawberry jam - reminiscent of Yoghurt House's strawberry and cheese toast (Except in Sagada I had real strawberries, hihi)

Sweetie ordered the Grilled Fish plate - a dish with a big fish fillet on a yummy garlic sauce, served with (again, a big) grilled prawn and tomato salsa.

For sharing we ordered the grilled chicken pizza - with loads of cheese, peppers and corn kernels. Yum!

Our dinner

Then comes my favorite part as usual: DESSERT!

One of my readers suggested I try the Brazo de Mercedes of Qizia, so this time I made sure I ordered it.

Verdict: It was sooooo yummy! With lots of filling! One of the best I've had, really!

Their chocolate cake is really good too! The chocolate studs at the end of the cake make this treat even sweeter.

And the reason why I'll keep coming back to Qizia? THE CARROT CUPCAKE! The muffin is chunky-full of carrot and raisins, and the frosting is really good... Perfect for my sweet tooth! (Or teeth.) You can also order this as a regular cupcake, or its sugar-free version!

Good food at very affordable prices. Have your energy balance checked + food craving sated at Qizia today!

QIZIA CAFE

You wouldn't miss this Italian cafeteria because it is just beside (or behind?) SDS Medical center in Marikina. Complete address is indicated at the end of this post. :)

If you are looking for another quick Italian fix, you can always go to Qizia (read as "keesha") Cafe. Word of advice though, this is definitely NOT the place for authentic Italian food. The cuisine is Italian, the taste is for the Filipino palate. But still, we're talking about value for your money, which Qizia offers its clients. The food tastes good for the price on the bill. :)

That's my bag, hehehe! Don't expect too much on service. Like I mentioned, this is a cafeteria, not a restaurant. When you arrive, you can go straight to the counter and order. You can still ask assistance from the waiters, of course. Glasses of water, baby chairs, paper bags for leftovers, etc.

So what did we order?!

QIZIA SPECIAL PIZZA

We ordered the Qizia Special Pizza. It's much like the Manager's Choice of Shakey's. I love the thin crust of their pizza here. :)

SEAFOOD PIZZA

Why order only one pizza when you can order two, right? I like how the seafood pizza tasted, it's a bit spicy and the flavor of the shrimp stood out.

CHOCOLATE SHAKE

I sip on this from time to time to recover from the spicy and fishy tastes. I loved the froth, hehe!

SPICY SEAFOOD PASTA

The pasta was cooked al dente, which is always what I prefer. The dish has this curry-taste to it, I like it. Quite unique. :)

For all of these, we only paid a little less than 500 pesos. Okay let's round it up to 500, haha! You see?! You can even have your date here. 500 pesos: I was highlighting the value for your money + taste earlier, right? (We weren't able to try their pastries though, and I heard they serve really good coffee!)
