SPARTEA SPA AND BUBBLE TEA

***AS OF 28 JANUARY 2013, WE HAVE RECEIVED NEWS THAT SPARTEA IS NO LONGER OPEN. HOPE THEY FIND ANOTHER NOOK IN MARIKINA SOON!***

With all the milk tea craze going around the metro, I am proud to say that in Marikina, we have one, too.

And it's not just your regular milk tea place. They also offer spa services.

But wait, it doesn't end there. They have Japadogs too. (Japa-what?)

Yes, you heard it right. Japanese hotdogs. These are juicy hotdog sandwiches topped with ingredients that are so Japanice, like kani (crabsticks) or wasabi. More of those later! Be patient, my loves.

So there you go, a place that serves bubble tea, that offers spa services, and serves Japadogs. Unveiling our latest discovery: SPARTEA SPA AND BUBBLE TEA!

We come up to the counter and order our drinks. The lovely lady (I think she's the owner) recommended we try their Winter Melon variant, but we reserved that flavor for our next visit. (Side story: After our Spartea visit, I checked their Facebook page and saw that a promo was going on for the Winter Melon drink, but you have to know the magic words to get the free upsize - posted on their page! We totally missed it, awww.)

Here are the drinks we tried, all at 100% sugar level. Every order of drink at Spartea comes with a free serving of add-on - you can choose between pearls, nata, tea jelly, or egg pudding.

Left: Kiu Milk Tea and Right: Strawberry Milk Tea - Love them!!

Mom ordered a cup of Hot Roasted Hazelnut Tea Blend (I love this photo, don't you?)

And the star of the night: Lemon Yakult! So sour, so milky, so yummy!! We'll try the Mango Yakult and Strawberry Yakult next time.

It's an evening tea parteeeey!

Now, I know you can't get the Japadogs off your mind, so here they are. Mind you, they are indeed as interesting as their names sound!

CALI MAKI DOG - served with crab sticks, mayonnaise, nori strips and mango syrup. Our favorite!

WASABI POTATO DOG - served with wasabi, ketchup, cheese and potato strings. This hotdog made me cry, but in a good way.

TERIYAKI DOG - the most interesting hotdog of all. Served with teriyaki sauce, mayonnaise, nori strips, and bonito flakes...that move. Yes, we couldn't bear eating this one because the bonito flakes were moving and they were just too cute to eat. Of course, who am I kidding, we ended up finishing the whole thing anyway!

It's a hotdog and milk tea parteeeeey!

Happy tea drinkers and hotdog killers

That's the lovely lady behind the counter whom I think is the owner... I'll ask her name next time. Do you see the violet and green curtains? Behind that partition is the spa. Next time we'll try the facial, manicure and pedicure while sipping on our Strawberry Yakult.

Places like Spartea prove that there is definitely more to Marikina than sturdy and beautiful shoes. A great place to hang out with your friends. Sip and snack away while pampering yourself at Spartea!

  3. awesome winter melon series! =)

  4. @Anonymous1: I haven't tried the Yakult drink of Happy Lemon (Only the Cocoa with RSC), I'll make sure to try that next time. I think other tea establishments have their versions of Yakult, I remember when I was at Serenitea there were Yakult options on the menu too :) Thanks for dropping by! :)

  11. There's really nothing new here. Heck even their hotdogs are copied from HAPADOGS in SM North.

  12. hi there! ;) thanks for the feedback. :) hmm, since milk tea has been around for quite some time now, i think they wouldn't be considered "new" per se... still, we're thankful that Spartea brought this craze to Marikina, at least we don't need to go out of our city just to get our milk tea fix ;) Same with japadogs, I also heard from my cousin in Canada that they are quite popular on that side of the world, for example. I'll make sure to check out Hapadogs in SM North when I'm in the area. :) Thanks so much again for dropping by! Cheers!

  13. wow! i didn't know Marikina has milktea now. this craze is really something huh? (do you know that milktea has the most calories compared to other commercial drinks?)
now i don't have to go back all the way to katipunan or libis when girlfriend craves for her fix. thanks!

  14. oh yes the calories... I try to limit my milk tea consumption to once or twice a month, hehe! It's good that we have one in Marikina now, really convenient. The place is quite accessible, just a jeepney or FX ride or even a walk away from Marikenyos ;) try their Japadogs when you get the chance. Thanks again! ;) Ciao!

  17. Have you visited Lafyuk's? It's right beside OLA or somewhere near the vicinity, you can ask nalang the people near OLA. Super sarap at super affordable!

  19. Hi Roni,

I'm an avid reader of your blog and a food lover like you :) BTW I'm a Marikinyo too. Nanggaling ako kanina sa SparTea. Walang katao tao haha. Expected naman since holiday. I heard a lot of positive reviews so talagang sinadya ko pa yung place to try it out. I tried the Kiu Milk Tea since one of the best sellers. Isang sip lang, disappointed na ako agad. Malabnaw ang pagkakatimpla the fact na 100% na yung sweetness nya. Ineexpect ko nga matamis tulad ng sinasabi sa mga review. So naturn off agad ako. First timer ako tapos bad experience agad :(. Hindi ata consistent ang pagkakatimpla ng mga teas nila.

  20. Hi there Noah! thanks for dropping by and for leaving your feedback. So sorry to hear about your experience. :-( Hope they pick up this comment and check with their staff to address your concern. In case you also want to explore other milk tea places, there's also Bubba Lab at C-Mall, Teaza along Lilac, Got Chaa and Teazone at Puregold, and Teasome near Marikina bridge/7-11. Cheers!! :-)

  21. I DID NOT SEE their Japanese hotdogs when I visited the place awhile back. It was because we were eating at Tapsi Ave. at the floor below and I was just focused on getting my milk tea >.< I must visit this place again.

Thanks for the info Roni! Yet another place to attack! :D

  24. Roni, there's a new shop open where spartea was. It's called Body & Brew. I haven't visited it yet, but from the sound of the name I think Spartea was rebranded. I'll see if I can pass by this weekend. I badly need a massage anyway. :-)
