MINI CUPCAKES FOR CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR!

Hello dear Marikenyos! Getting my business back on groove has been keeping me busy lately. :-(
Just in case you're interested (especially for new year, these are round thingies! hehe):

I still have loads of materials, I just can't find the time to write (excuses again.) Thanks for all your continued support! And of course, a big warm hug and thanks to everyone who sends me messages on my very challenging pregnancy ;-)

TIYO'S CUISINE BY CHEF & BREWER

I am now on my fourth month of pregnancy and I couldn't eat as much as I'd love to like before, but that couldn't stop me from discovering awesome food places for you dear readers! This restaurant has been on my list for a couple of months now after receiving another recommendation from a reader. Together with my ever reliable support group - Mom and Sis - we checked out Tiyo's Cuisine by Chef & Brewer and we had a really great time!

 Love the interiors!

For those of you who prefer to dine outside

Big space even for parking. This place gets packed especially at night though!

While waiting for our orders, my preggy self went around the place since I already fell in love with it. Here are some photos I'd like to share with you. Enjoy!

 The kitchen

 The fish pond

 Hello lovely, healthy kois!

 Hello Mr. Plumpy! Cute!

Dressing up their table wine. Love it!

Two cute buddha figures by the main door. I adore these!

I just love foodie places loaded with photo ops. I was informed that the place has been operating for just a couple of months, and I really look forward to what Tiyo's will offer us in the future. Ooops, here come our orders:

Angus Tapa (200 PhP). Our favorite!

Grilled Beer Sausage (180 PhP). Oh, we loved their sinangag, too!

Bangus Belly (180 PhP)

Pesto with Aligue (320 PhP) Soooo good! This dish serves 2-3 persons.

Mango juice and Pineapple Juice (70 PhP each)

We had a great dining experience at Tiyo's Cuisine! The ambience is great, the prices affordable, and of course, the dishes are delicious! They currently have ongoing promos such as buy 1 take 1 for beers at 55 PhP, and the unlimited 1-peso brewed coffee. Check their Facebook page for more details.

My best friends (aside from hubby, of course) --- Mom and Sis! Love them to pieces!

Celebrating four months of baby in my tummy! Hihi!

Notice how the centerpiece looks like it's walking? ;-)

Even More Reasons to Love BUBBA LAB

Okay, we have to admit it. BUBBA LAB is our latest addiction. And when a resto or a bar or a cafe (or tea place, in this case) really gets me hooked, I always write about it. (Remember my posts on SKOW, anyone?)

So, what do we love about this awesome tea place? The killer drink. We call it the killer drink because it leaves us wanting more, it makes us restless on late nights and we know Bubba Lab is already closed. *sniff* The drink that I am talking about: The BUBBA FROST SERIES! Woo hoo!

For you, blessed readers, I will share the concoction that has captured our hearts.

STEP 1: Order a large Bubba Frost Series drink (we always order the Fuzzy Melon, or the Choco Milk Tea)
STEP 2: Request for pearls as sinkers. Yes, you can add an extra order of pearls if you want.
STEP 3: This is the key step: request for an extra shot of cream. That's an additional 10 pesos (and calories) to your order, but I tell you: It's an instant upper.

P.S. You can ask the scienTEAsts to NOT cover the cup yet as you indulge in creamy cheesy goodness. Mmmmmm.

Have you been to Bubba Lab? What are your Bubba Lab favorites? What are your other go-to milk tea places in Marikina? :-)

CRAZY KATSU

Hello dearest Marikenyos! I personally decided to take a break in posting while the storms were harassing our lovely city. :-( How are you all doing? I pray that you and your family are all safe and catching up with all the work to do "post-flood".

Speaking of bad weather, a week before the habagat brought about high water levels upon the Marikina River, Mom, Sis and I checked out a Japanese restaurant along Lilac Street (yes, Lilac = another foodie haven) called Crazy Katsu. Their interiors felt cozy, with a very simple but elegant design. Their menu is simple as well: a one-page card filled with special items. I'd definitely go back because everything that we tried was really good!

They also had pudding on the menu for dessert, but I guess we will try that one when we go back ;-)

Here is what we ordered:

Pork Ginger (140 PhP - really yummy!)

Chicken Katsu (145 PhP - again, yummy!)

Katsu Curry (190 PhP - Mom loved this!)

So if you suddenly crave for Japanese (no sushi nor sashimi though), check out Crazy Katsu for terrific meals at affordable prices.

More Reasons to Love BUBBA LAB

First off, I would like to give a shout-out to all my labmates at BUBBA LAB! I requested a scienTEAst shirt in a (half-meant) joking manner and guess what... they gave me a shirt! How awesome can these guys be? Haha! Thanks so much labmate Mikee for the super cool shirt!

Me and scienTEAsts Mark and Lani... Of course, me already wearing the shirt! Hihi!

We tried their classic Earl Grey and their Bubba Frost Series. Super. Yummy.

Can you see the creamy froth? Mmmmm. Salted cream frost. Yummeh.

Mom and Sis enjoying their Bubba Frost Series drinks

Me enjoying my Classic Earl Grey blend

They also have an ongoing promo. Collect stamps and get discounts on the 7th and 10th stamp. Cool huh?

Bubba Lab, another cool milk tea place, in the very cool city of Marikina.

More Reasons to Love CAFE VIA ANGELO

I love cafes that are open on Sundays, especially in a small city like Marikina. Last weekend when we had some hunger pangs late Sunday night, we drove along JP Rizal looking for open food places and we were all smiles when we saw that Cafe Via Angelo is still open!

The coolest thing I remember about this restaurant (aside from its coziness) is the warm service provided by the staff, they're so nice and very accommodating. I remember them running out of iced tea stock but since I ordered it one of the crew had to run off to the nearest convenience store to get a pack. Aww! I know it's their responsibility to stock up, some of you might think, but still!!! Some foodie places would have easily said 'not available'. ;-)

See how late it was? No people. Almost closing time. Hihi!

We dismissed the idea of ordering pizza since we have previously tried their pizza (which was really good and loaded with toppings). I have always been curious about their sandwiches and at the same time craved pasta, so yes, we ended up ordering those.

While waiting for our orders, I ask for a slice of chocolate cake. Hehe, dessert before the meal. Not sure if that's a very good practice.

*Wink*. Whatever floats my boat.

Halfway through the fudgy cake, our orders arrive:

 Fish and Chips (145 PhP)

 Pesto Mare Pasta (145 PhP)

Tuna Sandwich (90 PhP)

So: thank you Cafe Via Angelo for remaining open even on Sunday night! Burp.

BUBBA LAB

Concept. One big word for businesses! And I'm proud to say that foodie establishments in Marikina never run out of new ones. One of the PEXers, Pao, dropped by the FB page of All Over Marikina and suggested we check out Bubba Lab (Thanks Pao!).

This is how it should look like when you start looking for it around C&B Mall...

The "scien'tea'sts" are in! Cool! Let's go check it out!

The concept of Bubba Lab revolves on a chemistry lab feel (uh, not my favorite subject, haha) which we find it really cool! (Again, even though chemistry is not really my cup of tea, no pun intended.) Here's why:

Look at their menu! It's the periodic table of (tea) elements! Complete with descriptions and prices. Super cute!

 We dig the black-violet interiors!

Dear Bubba Lab management, could you please give me one of your scienteast shirts that says "Coffee, Juice, Tea, or Me?" at the back - pretty much what the scienteast in the photo is wearing, hehehe!

Oh yes, I remember those test tubes and flasks!

 Love it!

Look where they brew the tea!

Some samples, and yes, I sniffed all of them. Hehe!

Like I said we dig the interiors. That's Mom and Sis!

According to their Facebook page description:

"Wondering about the origin of our brand name Bubba Lab? We like the curiosity!

Bubba \ˈbə-bə\ is our slang term for 'bubbles'. The bubbles refer to the foam created by brewing, stirring, agitating & shaking of any of our drinks (tea.juice.coffee). Simply all the lab work!

The term "lab", is obviously is our own unique ambience. The lab is the right place for innovating & formulating products that can provide ‘eureka’ moments to everyone.

If it's Bubba Lab it must be scien’TEA’fically delicious! "

We ordered the Vanilla Milk Tea, Bubba Lab Tea and the Fuzzy Melon. Yummy!

 Mom ordered the Fuzzy Melon

Sis ordered the Vanilla Milk Tea

And this is me posing as they brew what had to be brewed.

Check out Bubba Lab when you are in the area, there are lots of eye candy inside the lab as you wait for the scienteasts to prepare your drink. Let me know about your experience!

You think my shirt is cool? Oh yes, it's a classic. Check out FrancisM Clothing here.
