CHA DAO

Just a quick update: the milk tea craze continues to take over Marikina.

I have heard so much about Cha Dao, but I really didn't have the chance to try it out. However, when we were at SM Marikina last weekend, we came across a long line of customers for one stall and we followed the trail and then we discovered: Cha Dao is now in Marikina!

It was my first time to see Cha Dao's menu, and they sure offer a lot! I wonder if there are even more flavors in their major branch though.

Maybe next time we can try their Yakult blends too :)

They were still on soft opening that day, and they were upgrading cups for free! Good news for us!

They were also giving out ang paos! The red envelope contained coupons you can use until March 31, 2012. These include free sinkers, free cup upgrade, and discounts!

We ordered Classic Milk Tea and Wintermelon Creme. They were soooo yummy! The pearls were cooked just right, plus I really like how sweet they were!

Good thing we have a milk tea place in SM Marikina now. Of course, when I'm feeling like a health buff, I'll still check out Soyummy! (This is not an ad, I just love Soyummy and the cute little soybean icon. Haha!)

Even More Reasons to Love MAMA CHIT'S

"Wonderful places" for me are places that make a person wonder, like Mama Chit's. One step into the coffee house and you are immediately transported five, six, seven decades back in time. And so I wonder: how was life back then? Cars without automatic transmission, social circles without social networks, marathons without timing chips... all these things come to mind when you view the photos mounted on the shop's wall. And no, I am not sharing them here. I'll leave everything to your imagination until you visit Mama Chit's! :)

The food of course, I will be more than happy to share photos of. :) I was in the area to check out the bicycle shop beside the coffee house. After the bicycle spare parts hunting, it was lunch time chez Mama Chit's!

Started off the meal with these huge onion rings! Yuh-meh!!

I always, always welcome a good bowl of pasta. Mama Chit's creamy pesto was truly delicious!

Mama Chit's Cheeseburger and Chips - never fails to satisfy the tummy!

The Combo Pizza! And since I love olives, I love this pizza. Hehe!

Thank you to places like Mama Chit's that make us wonder how it feels like to be part of the world's colorful past, even for just a moment. Pairing this wonder with really good food, every trip to Mama Chit's is a walk down a yummy memory lane indeed.

BERRY YUMMY

They say that in high school, you meet the best friends you will have for life.

I agree, actually. I've made really good friends in college, even at work, as well as in all my other circles, but my high school super friends always give me one big disabling tummy ache and sore throat from laughing for hours and hours whenever when we're together.

That day, one of my closest high school friends, Beng, was having a kiddie party at Jolibee (No, don't ask our actual ages, haha!). Before the event, us "kiddie" participants decided to meet up at Blue Wave and go to the event together.

Meet up point: the very yummy Berry Yummy! The place just spells fun - which is quite appropriate to our mood that day. Imagine, catching up with high school super friends AND attending a Jollibee Kiddie Party. How much fun can it get?

What did I tell you, huh? The place is bright, fun, where you suddenly turn into a child that's all giddy because her Mom is buying her an ice cream cone... well, in this case it's yoghurt.

Berry Yummy is also a great alternative for a "chika" place. Coffee shops can get really crowded, so hey, we have froyo nooks, too!

The thing I love about Berry Yummy is they have a lot of toppings to choose from. Weighed yoghurt is also available. You get a cup, dispense your own yoghurt and pick toppings of your choice. Since I was too lazy even to walk to the dispenser (tee hee), I chose the package which is a large cup with three toppings. Fruit loops, walnuts and chocolate chips. Nyam nyam nyam!

Of course, you might have buddies that are not yoghurt fans (there are a lot, right?). In this case, Berry Yummy offers a set of treats such as crepes and cakes which your non-yoghurt-fans friends can enjoy. They also have waffles!!! :)

Speaking of enjoy, allow me to post more "people" photos than "food" photos... even just for this post, okay? ;)

Wennie and Tessah loving the balloon arch :)

 Me and my beloved Tessah

Tessah...again. Hahaha :) Love you sis!

Oh my I have sooooo much backlog for this blog. Watch out for yummy posts soon, plus a reader feature (ehem, Iceal, where are you...).

I would also like to thank YOU readers for all the e-mails and BBMs that I have been getting. Love you lots!!! Thanks so much guys, you are this blog's fuel, where would I be without you, really?

A BLESSED 2012, MARIKENYOS!

I told you I'd be back in a jiffy! ;-) Let me start off the year by sharing with you one really nice experience with one of the restaurants I featured here.

This weekend, my Mom got a call from Perfect Moments. They told her to go to their shop at Blue Wave Marquinton to pick something up. Thinking that it was some cake I ordered for media noche, she headed to the mini-mall to get the goods. Upon arriving at the store, my Mom was greeted by Ate Linda (our suki cashier) and was handed not one but two cakes, and told her "Thank you from the owner of Perfect Moments."

A story within a story: Perfect Moments owner Chef Josephine was browsing the net and came across this post I wrote about them and was very happy about it, so she decided to give me cakes. Awwww! Thanks so much Chef Josephine!

I am a fan of your carrot cake, so thank you so much for these cute and tasty gifts. How thoughtful! In case some of you are wondering how they were able to contact my Mom, well, they saw her on one of the blog entry's photos, and they have her number because Perfect Moments catered my sister's wedding cake last year. :)

Cheers to more food trips this year! More exciting features and "gimmicks" coming your way!
